Get Up and Go!

Three Reasons to Walk First Thing in the Morning

  1. Improves your mood

  2. Makes a booty look good in yoga pants (that goes for men too)

  3. Does a heart good

FullSizeRenderHere’s how I do it… I get up at 6:30 get both dogs, the toy poodle who is 8 and the golden who is 13, yep that’s right my 13 year old dog still walks the trail 5 days a week. If he can do it I know you can. We meet my good friend and her golden and off we go for two miles in the gorgeous hills in Pittsburgh.

There is no better way to start your day!

Studies have shown walking improves the area in your brain responsible for regulating mood and improves our thinking skills. By toning your gluteus maximus, it also provides support for your hip joints and the trunk of your body. It also makes the heart pump faster which circulates blood and creates more oxygen.

The Harvard Health Blog/Harvard Health Publications states that just 150 minutes of regular exercise each week (30 minutes 5 times each week) changes the brain to improve thinking skills. Click here for more information.

We change our clocks this weekend and fall back one hour. This is the perfect opportunity  to  train your body to get up and go… The sun begins to rise at 6:30 in the morning. Find a place to go nearby or just walk out the door and go. In addition to the exercise, the colors this time of year   are not is is spectacular and not to be missed. The photo in this post was taken during a recent morning walk.

Here’s to happy trails, a good looking booty and a healthy heart.
